Lactation Clinic
Punky Doodlebugs is also home to “With Child” - Lactation Clinic and Boutique. We provide a full range of products like the Medela breast pump, and other breast pumps, and services to make “Nurturing through Nursing” for the mother who desires to breastfeed and/or provide milk for her baby when she must be away.
Reading about latch-on basics and learning to translate text and pictures into practice with your new baby at your breast will all work together more easily once your baby is with you. I encourage first-time breastfeeding mothers to get skilled and experienced help with nursing in the first few days after birth.
Lactation Consultations, by appointment, are provided by myself, Victoria Ackerman, a nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Through almost 30 years of caring for mothers and babies, I have come to appreciate the incredible efforts that mothers put forth as they come to realize what is important to them in how they nurture and nourish their babies. Whether you need help with your Medela breast pump or any other type of breast pumps, we can help!
As a, friend, fellow-mother, maternity, labor/delivery and NICU nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I have been honored to share in the lives of thousands of women. I have paid my dues in the classrooms of nursing school, continuing education courses, lactation conferences, seminars and certification courses. But, it is in years of observing the instinctive behaviors of mothers and their babies that I have developed the skills that have allowed me to offer comprehensive help to mothers who are learning to manage breastfeeding challenges and life with a new baby.
The lactation clinic offers support and treatment for mothers experiencing breastfeeding challenges and parents are provided with consistent and evidence-based information that instill confidence in mothers to help them successfully reach their own breastfeeding goals using breast pumps or any other method.
Why have a Lactation Consultation?
A Lactation Consultation gives you a chance to get answers to your questions and get help with the physical skills of nursing your baby, pumping milk with a breast pump or whatever plan you have for nurturing your baby.
Here are some of the things moms ask during a lactation consultation:
- I’m expecting a baby… what do I need to know
about nursing before my baby is born? - What do I need (or not need) for nursing my baby?
- Why is Skin-to-Skin contact so important for me and my baby?
- What do I need to know to make it easy to nurse my baby?
- What does my baby already know about nursing?
- How can I tell if my baby is ready to nurse?
- How can I help my baby latch correctly?
- What do I do to make nursing totally comfortable?
- How can I get my baby to nurse longer?
- How do I know that my baby is actually getting milk?
- How do I know when my baby has really had enough?
- How can I make sure I have plenty of milk?
- What about breast pumps?
- How can I keep up milk supply if I have to be away from my baby?
- What’s a good way to build up my milk supply before I go back to work?
- What do I do if my breast are too full?
- I'm not sure I want to nurse, but I want my baby to get my milk…
can I do that? - How do I manage nursing, pumping and bottle feeding?
- I want to learn some other positions for nursing.
- I was advised to give my baby formula.
- How do I make the change to just nursing?
- Why is my nursing baby fussy?
- My baby is premature…now what?
- I had twins… how do I make that work?
- I want to nurse an adopted baby… how can I do that?

I really liked that this store has so much for breastfeeding moms. Lots of slings and baby carriers to try out. They have a really cute selection of nursing over ups too (hooter hiders, bebe au lait, really cute locally made ones too).
